Adirondack furntire refers to the architectural style generally associated with the Great Camps within the Adirondack Mountains area in New York. There are many styles of adirondack furniture but the basic style remains the same. Each craftsman or manufacturer will create a slightly different pattern based on creative talents. Listed below are a few examples of these varying styles
Back Support -
This is the most common style. The first picture has a back support. The second picture has no back support. The first piece is made of wood while the second piece happens to be white recycled plastic.
Slat Types -
The backrest slats can be straight or fanned. The first is straight or upright slats. The second picture has fanned slats.
Some chairs have lower seats ( these however are much more difficult to get into and out of ). These are called "lowboy" chairs.
Most Adirondack styles of furniture also come with a footrest. I would recommend a footrest if you have the space. It is much more comfortable. Here are some examples of footrests for Adirondack chairs.
